| I became obsessed with photography when I was about 12 years old. I don't know why I became so smitten with taking pictures. Maybe it had to do with the realization that life wasn't forever. Or maybe it was an adolescent girl's coming of age self consciousness. Whatever it was, I started taking a lot of pictures. At the time I lived in the Bronx. I used to take pictures of my friends in silly poses using my Kodak Brownie. I still have those photos. My love of photography never ceased. I continued to take pictures throughout my life - of people, faces, bodies. Babies, children, old people. It is people that most intrigue me - the expression on their faces, their shape and form, their posture and movement. About 10 years ago my life-long love of dance steered me in a new direction. I started photographing the ballet. Capturing the right moment in time as well as the elegance, grace and beauty of the dancer was a challenge as well as an art. I was drawn to the dramatic lighting of the theater as well as the excitement and glamour. From there I branched out into other types of stage productions and, finally, into some of the most lavish of productions - weddings. I now live in the small Rocky mountain town of Nederland, Colorado. Quite a leap from the NYC neighborhood I grew up in but not really surprising knowing myself. I find the serenity soothing and restorative. I like the unpretentious way of life up here. I have a really nice studio with lots of natural light (although I do use professional strobes if I want more dramatic results). There are lots of places near here that provide spectacular backdrops for portraits. I love being able to work at my computer and once in awhile gaze out into the woods and catch a glimpse of the sky. Please feel free to look around my website and check out my work. If you click on "Galleries" in the menu above you will have an opportunity to see a lot of my recent work. And, of course, please call or e-mail me if you would like to talk further. |
